Roles and Powers of School Board Trustees, Appointment and Dismissal of a Director of Education, and Ontario Residents' Election Powers Summary / TLDR School board trustees are decision makers of a school board's policies, and they may change or reverse any existing policy(-ies) too. The school board trustees have direct power to appoint and/or dismiss the Director of Education of the school board. Ontario residents have voting powers to elect school board trustees, who shall act on behalf of residents, in particular, parents and students.
